Thomas & Denzinger Architects was selected from amongst 25 other teams to provide design services for Drayton Hall in Charleston, South Carolina.  Assembling a team of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates Inc., Wertimer & Associates, 4SE Structural Engineers, Forsberg Engineering, and GLS Engineering, the goal of designing an Interpretative Center for the site is underway.  As part of the research and programming development phase of the project members of Thomas & Denzinger Architects and Drayton Hall visited several historical sites in the Virginia area. The focus of the trip was on what worked, what did not, and what can be learned from a critical mass of research of recently build interpretative centers. While those questions are being processed and answered, here is a map of the sites visited.
